Manchester City defeats Brighton and takes second place in English

For the ninth round of the Premier League, Brighton and Manchester City faced each other this Saturday in the fight for second place in the table. The team led by Pep Guardiola won 4-1 and took second place with 20 points, two less than leaders Chelsea and two more than third-placed Liverpool, who play this Sunday.

In the next round, both teams take the field next Saturday. Brighton visits Liverpool at 11 am (GMT) in Anfield. At the same time, City hosts the Crystal Palace at Etihad Stadium.

The game – Manchester City didn’t take long to have a promising attack. At ten minutes, Grealish fired Gundogan on the counterattack and found Gabriel Jesus, who entered the area, kicked without an angle and Dunk took it over the line.

Two minutes later, City opened the scoring. After Sánchez left the goal, Gundogan received it from Bernardo Silva and scored the first of the match. At 27, the advantage widened. In a deadly counterattack, Grealish worked with Bernardo and found Foden, who swelled the nets.

On minute 31, after Brighton’s mistake, Jesus dribbled the opponent and opened with Grealish. The midfielder kicked and Sánchez rebounded. The Brazilian submitted and had a deviation from Foden, who added his second in the game.

On the return of the locker rooms, City came back attacking, but not with the same intensity. Brighton reached the goal more times and found a penalty in the 35th minute. Mwepu was brought down by Ederson in the small area line. In the charge, Mac Allister charged in the left corner and cashed for the home team.

At 41, Mahrez joined to close the score. In additions, the midfielder took advantage of the opponent’s defense and, free on the right, sent to the goal.
