The mix competition was not going to be very exciting, but in the first round there was an earthquake! The Polish equipment controller fell into a frenzy of disqualification.
Every now and then we got information about resetting the result of one of the leading jumpers. First, the Polish woman, after the suit inspection, disqualified the Japanese champion a few minutes later, Austrian Daniela Irashko-Stolz left the check, broken from the inspection. Later, in the second series, the results of the Norwegian women – Anna Odine Stroem and Silje Opseth were also reset.
The German national team was also disqualified – at the end of the first series, the Olympic vice-champion Katharina Althaus was also disqualified. The fact that the German team was zeroed and the average jumps of the other players from this team meant that the German team was not able to enter even the second series of the mixes competition. This is another huge failure that was furious after the first round.
In the end, Slovenia turned out to be the best, beating the Russians who jumped sensationally at the Olympics by over 100 points. The bronze medal was won by the Canadians, and Poland took sixth place. There were also Austria and Japan between the white-and-reds and the podium, where only seven jumps counted.
Horngacher is thundering after the mix contest! An absurd reaction
After the competition, Stefan Horngacher stood in front of the cameras of the German ZDF, who had to explain himself from the poor form of the German jumpers. However, in light of the Austrian’s recent protests, his translations sounded bizarre. – Of course, it’s a very bitter pill. It must only be said that at the Games the controllers start to control and measure differently and more. It’s slowly becoming the Punch and Judy show for me [angielski teatr kukie³ek, w którym przedstawienie zazwyczaj koñczy siê ok³adaniem kijem]. Already in men’s jumping there are many problems and every day new rules arise. This is not in the spirit of sports. I will think about it for a long time, said Horngacher, clearly irritated.
The Austrian’s words sound illogical because a dozen or so days ago it was he who caused a huge scandal in jumping and demanded the disqualification of his rivals due to – in his opinion – illegal equipment. It seems the whole scandal caused by Horngacher has now turned on him. The men’s representation of Germany is disappointing, the Austrian team was even mistaken in the individual competition. Monday’s mix was supposed to be a breakthrough for her, while there were no Germans even in the second round.
Horngacher played va banque before the Olympics, but he overestimated it. And although the Austrian achieved his goal – Poles could not compete in new shoes – the atmosphere in the German team deteriorated significantly. And the local jumpers were hit with a ricochet -.
Finally, the subject of Monday’s disqualifications – Dawid Kubacki miraculously avoided her in the mixed competition, who jumped in the jumpsuit in the first round, in which he was on the raid.
