Montevideo City Torque, like Barcelona SC, started 2022 with new defenders

Montevideo City Torque and Barcelona SC will take their first step on Tuesday seeking access to a group stage of the Copa Libertadores soccer that, for the moment, remains distant for both.

The Centenario stadium in Montevideo will witness one of the three matches that will take place in the first round of the main continental tournament at the club level, which will be closely watched by those who await the winner in the second round: Universitario, from Peru.

After equalizing on Saturday in his debut in the Uruguayan Apertura tournament, Torque will try to change his footing and for that he will bet on the good-footed footballers he has in his squad.

In the center of the field, Nicolás Milesi and Darío Pereira will accompany the Argentine Tiago Palacios, one of the incorporations that the citizens added in this period of passes in which they lost two of their main figures: the defenders Franco Pizzichillo and Andrew Teuten.

Meanwhile, regarding the game against Cerro Largo, it is likely that the attacker Sebastián Guerrero, author of the goal for the agonizing 1-1 (minute 90 + 7) last Saturday, will enter the lead to accompany Joaquín Zeballos or Juan Bautista Eyebrows.

On the other hand, Barcelona SC will face the match with a renewed squad, especially in defense where the Uruguayan Carlos Rodríguez, who recently joined from Peñarol, and the winger Pedro Pablo Velasco, who will play again after a long injury, will be present.

In the center of the field, the visitor will not be able to count on fellow Uruguayan Bruno Piñatares, since he has been suspended for one game since the last edition of the tournament, as well as the offensive Tito Valencia, who could not travel due to an alleged issue legal.

Instead of Piñatares, the Brazilian Leonai Souza will play, one of the main foreign figures last season in Uruguay with Plaza Colonia.

This Tuesday’s will be the first game of a series that will end on February 15 at the Monumental Banco Pichincha stadium. (D)
