Canada urged to abandon figure skating at the Olympics because of Russia

Sarah Jenkins, a Canadian journalist for CBC Sports, has called for figure skating to be removed from the Olympics due to Russia’s dominance. She wrote about it in Twitter.

“I think we should remove all sports from the Olympic Games that are dominated by one country or another,” the journalist believes.

In particular, she suggested abandoning figure skating because of Russia’s leadership, skiing because of Norway, bobsledding because of Germany, and speed skating because of the Netherlands. Jenkins did not specify whether she was serious about such an initiative.

At the moment, the publication has collected more than 680 likes.

Earlier, on February 7, Russian figure skaters won the team tournament at the Beijing Olympics. On account of the domestic team – 74 points. The US team has 65 points, the Japanese – 63. As part of the Russians, the winners were Kamila Valieva, Mark Kondratyuk, Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov, as well as Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov.
