Russian hockey players lost to Canada at the Beijing Olympics

The Russian women’s ice hockey team lost to the Canadian team at the group stage of the 2022 Olympic tournament in Beijing. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.

The meeting took place on February 7 and ended with the score 6:1 in favor of the Canadians. The winners included Sarah Nourse, Sarah Fillier, Jamie Lee Rattray, Erin Ambrose, Brianna Jenner and Marie-Philip Poulain. The only goal scored by the Russians was Anna Shokhina.

The match between Russia and Canada started an hour later than planned. The reason was the refusal of the Canadians to go on the ice. The rival team demanded the results of tests for the coronavirus of the Russians. As a result, both teams played two periods in medical masks.

On account of the Russians now one victory and two defeats. In the first match, the hockey players turned out to be stronger than the Swiss with a score of 5:2. In the second meeting, they were defeated by the Americans – 5:0.

Russia will play the next match against Finland. It will be held on February 8 and will begin at 16:10 Moscow time.
