State Duma Deputy Irina Rodnina commented on the reaction of the Ukrainian national team to the rental of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva during the team competition at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. Her words are quoted by Sport-Express.
Rodnina said that the Russians should not pay attention to the dissatisfaction of the opponent, emphasizing that they are doing nasty things that do not correspond to the Olympic movement. “Forget about them. Where are we, and where are the Ukrainians. Their only happiness is to sit next to our team. And then, it turned out by lot, ”she added.
Valieva showed the best result in the short program of the team tournament at the Olympics. The Russian team is in the lead, overtaking the US team by three points. Valieva’s performance was applauded by the representatives of the nine teams participating in the team tournament. Only Ukrainian athletes showed a restrained reaction, refusing to get up from their seats.
The remaining disciplines in the team tournament will be held on February 7th.
