This Sunday, Bayer Leverkusen took no notice of Borussia Dortmund and thrashed 5-2 away from home, in a game valid for the 21st round of the German Championship.
The visitors opened the scoring with an own goal by Akanji, in the 11th minute of the first half. Five minutes later, Frimpong scored against his own goal and the home team equalized. In the first stage, Wirtz and Andrich scored for Leverkusen. In the second half, Jonathan Tah and Diaby scored and secured the victory. In the final stretch of the game, Tigges scored for Borussia.
The defeat was terrible for Dortmund. The Yellow Wall team parked in second position, with 43 points, and saw Bayern Munich shoot the lead, with 53. In addition, they start to worry about Leverkusen himself, third in the championship, with 38 points.
Borussia return to the field next Sunday, when they visit Union Berlin, at 11:30 am (GMT). The day before, Bayer face Stuttgart, at home, at 14:30.
