Russian State Duma deputy Dmitry Svishchev appreciated the question of American journalist Nathaniel Hertz about doping, asked by Russian skier Alexander Bolshunov. His words are quoted by Sport-Express.
“These journalists need to be driven out! These are not journalists, but provocateurs. They violate the whole ethics of this profession and hide behind their crust, ”Svishchev condemned Hertz. He called the question a provocation, which was asked to offend the representative of the Russian team.
Earlier on Sunday, February 6, Bolshunov won the skiathlon. His advantage over the closest rival was 1.11 minutes. At a press conference after the race, Hertz asked Bolshunov a question about the use of illegal drugs. The Russian called the question ugly and advised the journalist to come to his training.
Bolshunov’s gold in the skiathlon is the first for the Russian team since the Olympics in Turin in 2006. The skier himself became the Olympic champion for the first time in his career.
