Fedor Emelianenko was considered an average fighter by UFC standards

Former UFC champion Daniel Cormier appreciated the level of Russian fighter Fedor Emelianenko. His words are quoted by MMA Fighting.

“The UFC communicated with Fedor from 2009 to 2011. He would have defeated Brock Lesnar. But otherwise I don’t think Emelianenko could have played well in the UFC. To be honest, he would have been an average fighter by the standards of a promotion at the time, ”Cormier said.

Cormier noted that Emelianenko would have had a hard time against such rivals as Junior Dos Santos or Kane Velasquez. According to the former UFC champion, the fact that the Russian fighter did not sign a contract with the American promotion helped to keep the intrigue. “It looks like I’m throwing a trash-talk against Fedor, but I like him,” said Cormier.

The next fight, 45-year-old Fedor Emelianenko will play against American Tim Johnson. Their fight will take place on October 23 in Moscow as part of the Bellator 269 tournament. Johnson is known for his performances in the UFC.

Fedor Emelianenko spent 46 fights in his career, in which he won 39 victories and suffered six defeats. Another fight with his participation was declared invalid.
