French striker Karim Benzema, with a left thigh injury, is out of the Spanish LaLiga game against Granada this Sunday, indicated the merengue club this Saturday when announcing the list of players involved for the match.
Ten days before the Champions League round of 16 clash against Paris Saint-Germain, on February 15, at Parc des Princes, Benzema did not participate in this Saturday’s collective training in Valdebebas, although he could return in the next game of French championship, against Villarreal.
“It’s ruled out (for the game against Granada),” Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti explained tersely on Saturday at a news conference.
Benzema (34 years old) was substituted in the 58th minute of the game for the 22nd round of the championship, against Elche, on January 23, after suffering a stab in the back of the thigh.
He has since lost the Copa del Rey quarter-final match, lost on Thursday to Athletic Bilbao (1-0).
The Brazilian Vinicius Junior, serving suspension, will also miss the game against Granada. Carlo Ancelotti has selected 20-year-old Juanmi Latasa for that match.
