The Italian Matteo Moschetti (Trek Segafredo) he won the fourth stage of the Volta a la Comunidad Valenciana, between Orihuela and Torrevieja, of 193.1 km, ahead of the Spanish Manuel Penalver (Burgos BH) and the russian Aleksander Kristoff (Intermarche), which surprised the great favorite, Fabio Jakobsen.
Vlasov (Bora) remains the leader of the general classification and is the virtual winner of the race, which will conclude this Sunday in the streets of Valencia, a stage that will probably be decided by a new mass arrival.
The stage started with an early escape from the quintet formed by Manuele Boaro (Astana), Ángel Madrazo (Burgos BH), Antonio Soto (Euskaltel), Urko Berrade (Kern Pharma) and Kenny Molly (Bingoal) to whom the peloton, after the three intense first days, let them do but never allowed them to go little more than three minutes apart.
The teams with sprinters controlled a nervous finish of stage in which, despite the work of Remco Evenepoel, Fabio Jakobsen did not arrive well placed to the final meters, in which Moschetti prevailed with authority, with a time of 4:32:17 hours.
