Injury keeps Marcos Caicedo away from the Blue Explosion

Within “about two weeks” Marcos Caicedo will be able to return to training with the Emelec first team, due to a knee injury, so the millionaire reinforcement for this season would miss the Blue Explosion next Wednesday.

“First I have to recover, then we’ll think about the rest,” said the Ecuadorian midfielder, who returns to the electric club after eight years.

The 30-year-old soccer player detailed to the press, on Thursday, that he suffered a knee sprain and is in the recovery stage, which aims to do “as it should.”

As for the preseason games of the cast of Ismael Rescalvo, the last time Caicedo was on the court was on January 23. That day, at the George Capwell stadium, Emelec faced Orense.

“I’m a bit unemployed, because I was injured, but in a few weeks I will return to training,” he declared after the Guayaquil cast faced Gualaceo on Thursday. “I’m good. In about two weeks we could return.

Regarding his return to the club from which he emerged and with which he won the national titles in 2013 and 2014, the Guayaquil native stated: “Very nice. You want to give your best, but sometimes injuries surprise you. We take it on responsibly, it’s part of football, we’re strong in the head”.

Emelec, current runner-up in Ecuador, will present its 2022 squad on Wednesday, February 9 at the Capwell. The rival invited to the Blue Explosion will be the Colombian Millonarios.

Caicedo was the first reinforcement announced for this season. Then came the nationals Eddie Guevara, Roberto Garcés, Kevin Rivera, Jeison Chalá and Byron Palacios, and the Argentines Gustavo Canto, Bruno Pittón and Mauro Quiroga. (D)
