2022 Nixon Rosero will be part of the batch of Ecuadorian cyclists who compete for European teams. With a contract for one season, the sucumbisense will wear the colors of the Team Lizarte, of Spanish amateurism, with his sights set on “becoming a WorldTour rider.”
The 20-year-old rider is the current national road champion in the sub-23 categoryhence your first goal of the year is defend the tricolor jersey in the tournament that will take place between February 18 and 20but his most coveted goals are in the Old Continent.
“My dream is to reach the WorldTourwin stages and fight for the general classification in Grand Tours”, revealed the cyclist from El Playón de San Francisco.
For Rosero, this will be the seventh season in cycling. In minor categories he has to his credit national track, time trial and road championships, the last title was at the Youth Tour in 2020, action that meant the signing with his new squad.
“Del Lizarte followed me since I won the Tour because it seemed amazing to them to have won the stage that was run in San Gabriel, in Carchi, with a difference of 10 minutes. Then they saw me in the Tour de l’Avenir (France), entering among the best rookies (11th) helped a lot because it was my first year under-23 and because it was the first time I was racing in Europe. His arrival in Europe is scheduled for March.and although without a defined calendar, Rosero is excited to be in the Giro Babyunder-23 race to be held in June, after the Giro d’Italia.

The U-23 national champion also said that he is analyzing the possibility of entering the individual time trialbut focused on the route he aimed for a “strong fight” with the peloton of his category.
“It is a very strong group, with Lenin Montenegro, who fought for the general in the Tour of Ecuador. There are other cyclists like Anderson Irua, Sebastián Caicedo, all very difficult rivals, the championship is going to be very hard, but we hope to be up to the task and put on a show,” said Rosero.
The national route will be held in the urban area of Quito on February 20.
