Djokovic meets Serbian President

Tennis player Novak Djokovic met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. It is reported by Telegraf.rs.

The head of Serbia shared his opinion on the deportation of a tennis player from Australia before the Australian Open tournament. Vučić believes that the Australian authorities tried to win the hearts of boys and girls in Serbia by disqualifying Djokovic from the tournament.

The President also addressed Djokovic, calling him the best in tennis in recent years. The Serbian leader expressed his readiness to help prepare new stars in the country and thanked Djokovic for his patriotism.

Djokovic, who won the Australian Open in 2021, was deported from Australia on January 16. The tennis star was also banned from visiting the country for three years. On January 14, the Australian authorities canceled the Serbian athlete’s visa and decided to deport him.

Djokovic’s problems arose due to the fact that the Serb’s visa does not include data on a medical exemption from vaccination against coronavirus. In addition, inconsistencies between the declared information and real data were found in the documents.
