Players and coaches will be required to issue a Fan ID

The Russian Football Union (RFU) has notified clubs of the need to obtain a Fan ID for players and coaches to enter the stadium. This is reported by the Bookmaker Rating.

According to the publication, the RFU informed the representatives of Russian clubs about the new requirement. Players and coaches will not be allowed into the stadium without proper documentation. Like fans, they will have to apply for a Fan ID. Such a pass will be referred to as a “Sports Visitor Card”.

On January 27, the head coach of the Russian national team Valery Karpin spoke out against the introduction of Fan ID. The coach of the national team believes that the innovation will bring a lot of inconvenience to football fans. Fans of a number of clubs in the Russian Premier League (RPL) are also opposed to Fan ID and plan to boycott league matches.

The law on the introduction of the FAN ID will come into force on 1 June. Russian league matches will resume after the winter break on February 26.

Fan ID was used during the 2018 World Cup in Russia. To enter the podium, each fan was required to have a personalized spectator card.
