Four goals in the last twenty minutes. We know the first PNA finalist

2022 has just entered its decisive phase. The first semi-final match of the tournament took place on Wednesday at the stadium in the capital of Cameroon – Yaoundé. One of the main favorites to triumph in the competition, the Senegalese national team, faced Burkina Faso. The team from head coach Aliou Cisse had a definite advantage on paper, because it was mostly made up of players who play in the best European leagues on a daily basis.

Indeed, from the very beginning of the meeting, the advantage of the Senegalese was very clear. Coach Cisse’s footballers had a clear advantage in possession of spades and created more opportunities for themselves to score. However, they could not break through the well-organized defense of Burkina Faso’s team. As a result, we did not see any goals in the first half of the game.

These came only in the final phase of the match. The first of them fell in the 70th minute of the match thanks to Abdou Diallo, who gave the lead, taking advantage of the confusion in the penalty area after an attempted rollover by one of his teammates. Six minutes later, Aliou Cisse’s side raised their lead with a nice hit from Idrissa Gueye.

It was then that the players from Burkina Faso started the attack, scoring a contact goal by Ibrahim Blati Toure after the next few minutes. But that was the only thing the team of head coach Kalou Malo could do, so the Senegalese people had the last word. The result of the match at 3: 1 was set by the star Sadio Mane in the 87th minute.

Thus, Senegal advanced to the Sunday final, in which they will face the winner of the second semi-final Cameroon – Egypt. So it is possible that on February 6 we will witness a duel between two colleagues from Liverpool, i.e. Sadio Mane and Egypt. Senegalese have so far played in the African Nations Cup final twice (2002, 2019) and have lost each time. This year, therefore, they will have a chance to claim their first-ever title of continent’s champions.
