Agent Maxim Dudchenko, representing the interests of the defender of the St. Petersburg “Zenith” Yaroslav Rakitsky, spoke about the situation with the extension of the client’s contract. His words are quoted by Sport24.
Dudchenko said that the player received an offer from Zenit, but it did not suit the player. If the problems cannot be solved, Rakitskiy will leave for another team. “What is Yaroslav’s priority – to stay at Zenit or go to another team? It all depends on whether we agree on the terms or not,” he stressed.
On January 25, Zenit CEO Alexander Medvedev said that the club had made an offer to extend the contract of the 32-year-old Ukrainian defender. He noted that now the leadership is waiting for a response from Rakitsky.
Rakitskiy’s contract with the Blue-White-Blues expires in June 2022. This season he has played 21 games for Zenit in all competitions. The defender scored two goals and made six assists.
Before moving to Zenit, Rakitskiy played for Shakhtar Donetsk. He also has five goals in 54 matches for the Ukrainian national team, to which he was no longer called up after moving to the Russian club.
