Guberniev appreciated the refusal of the Russian national hockey team to fly with other Olympians

Commentator Dmitry Guberniev appreciated the refusal of the Russian national hockey team to fly on a shared flight with other Olympians. He shared his opinion in his Telegram channel.

“Hockey players are great! I applaud Alexei Zhamnov and Ilya Kovalchuk! We found an opportunity and organized a flight, and the team will fly separately!” Guberniev wrote. He noted that the correct managerial work had been carried out.

Guberniev added that several cases have already been recorded when athletes passed negative tests before leaving, and received positive ones upon arrival in China. “The risk of getting sick must be minimized! Hockey players were in quarantine for two weeks, so they extended their quarantine for another eight hours of flight!” — said the commentator. He wished the hockey players to get negative tests in Beijing and compete for Olympic gold medals.

Earlier, on February 2, it became known that the Russian men’s hockey team refused to fly to the Games with representatives of other sports. The reason for the refusal was the fear of contracting the coronavirus. The national team is concerned that earlier, after a common flight, positive tests were detected in the women’s hockey team.

The Olympic Games will be held from 4 to 20 February. The Russian national team under the leadership of Zhamnov will play with teams from the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Denmark in the group stage.
