The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has reacted to information about a lawsuit filed against the German pizzeria Pizza Wolke because of the Mushroom League pizza. The organization’s statement leads to Twitter journalist Martin Ziegler.
UEFA said it did not go to court over the matter and stressed that in this case the local trademark protection agent was overzealous and acted too hastily. “Some people made a tragedy out of this. The Champions League can perfectly exist next to pizza, the name of which sounds very appetizing, ”the representatives of the union added.
On January 31, Pizza Wolke announced that it was suing UEFA over the name of the pizza “League of Mushrooms”. It turned out to be consonant with the name of the Champions League tournament, held under the auspices of the football union.
UEFA has hosted the Champions League since 1992. Prior to that, the tournament was called the European Champions Cup. The current champions of the Champions League are Chelsea London.
