Liverpool agreed, this Sunday, to sign the Colombian Luis Diaz until 2027. According to English media, the English club will pay 49 million pounds (R$ 352 million) to Porto, including bonuses.
The 25-year-old forward will wear the number 23 shirt and will be introduced to the team as soon as he completes the calendar with the Colombia national team, which faces Argentina this Tuesday in the World Cup qualifiers.
Luis joins the team led by Jurgen Klopp after spending two and a half seasons at Porto. For the Portuguese club, he played in 125 games and scored 41 goals. The player has faced Liverpool twice in the Champions League group stage this season.
The Reds coach was satisfied with the transfer and praised the new signing.
“I couldn’t be happier that we were able to close this deal. “He is an exceptional player and someone we have followed for a long time. We believe he has what it takes to fit into our path and adapt to the Premier League. He’s a player who is hungry for success, he’s a fighter,” Klopp told Liverpool’s website.
Previously, Luis Diaz had already defended the colors of Barranquilla FC and Junior in his homeland, before moving to Europe in 2019.
