Medvedev commented on reaching the final of the Australian Open

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev shared his emotions after winning the semifinal match of the Australian Open against the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.

“Glad I was able to get back together. At the beginning of the third set, with a score of 15:40, I found a couple of serves on the pitch, and this brought me back to the match, ”the athlete commented on reaching the final of the tournament. He added that the negative thoughts that appeared during the game interfered with him.

The semi-final meeting took place on Friday, January 28, and ended with a score of 7:6, 4:6, 6:4, 6:1 in favor of the Russian. On account of Medvedev – 13 innings right through, four realized break points and four double faults. Tsitsipas made five aces, two break points, one double fault.

During the semi-finals, Medvedev got into a skirmish with the referee. The incident occurred in the second set with the score 4:5 in favor of Tsitsipas. Medvedev was outraged that the Greek’s father was telling him from the stands. “His dad can talk at every prank? Are you dumb? Can his father talk all the time? Will you answer my question? Look at me! I’m telling you!” Medvedev turned to the judge.

In the final of the Australian Open-2022, Medvedev will meet with Spaniard Rafael Nadal. The match will take place on January 30, starting at 11:30 Moscow time.

Medvedev is the second racket of the world. He has won the 2021 US Open. Nadal is ranked fifth in the world rankings. He won 20 Grand Slam tournaments.
