The best ski jumpers have been in Germany for almost a week. Last weekend, the competition for the next World Cup points was in Titisee-Neustadt. Karl Geiger, the hosts’ rider, was the best in both competitions, taking the lead in the general classification.
As it turns out, there have been significant changes to the start list of the competition. The day before the start of the competition, the starting list was published. There were only 47 names on it, so the qualifications were abandoned. A prologue will be played in their place.
Only once in the history of the World Cup there were fewer competitors
Such a low number of competitors means that the competition in Willingen will go down in the history of the World Cup. Only once in history has fewer competitors entered a competition. This was the case at the competition in Oslo in 1995, when only 42 jumpers started.
Good news for Polish fans is the return to jumping of the leading players. Kamil Stoch, Dawid Kubacki, Paweł Wąsek and Stefan Hula will compete on the Muehlenkopfschanze by the decision of coach Michal Dolezal. For the first of them it will be the first appearance since the competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on January 1, and for the second one since the competition in Bischofshofen on January 8.
