The monument was erected at the site of the helicopter crash in which Bryant and his daughter died in January 2020. The monument is also engraved with the names of the other seven victims of the plane crash.
The basketball player flew in a Sikorsky S-76B helicopter, which is considered one of the safest in the world. Before the crash, a dense fog hung over the area. The pilot made a collision with a hillside, no one on board survived.
