Given the media publications about the Ecuadorian Chess Federation (FEDA) and the use of public funds, we allow ourselves to clarify the following, begins the statement from the state entity.
The Ministry of Sport has not received any request for the use of public resources by the FEDA for participation in the VIII Iberoamerican Championship to be held in Mexico, from February 12 to 19, 2022, therefore, they cannot use public resources for their participation.
However, as established by the Sports Law in your art. 14, in use of its powers, the Ministry of Sports will monitor and control the use of public funds by the Federation, as it does with other sports organizations.
It details that among its powers is that of supervising and evaluating sports organizations in compliance with this Law and in the correct use and destination of public resources received from the State, and must notify the Comptroller General of the State within the scope of its powers”:
