There were claims because the ball supposedly came out before the second goal of the Amsterdam team, the VAR, after reviewing the play, did not call the referee.
The Ajax beat this Sunday at home PSV Eindhoven (1-2) and regained the lead in the Netherlands Eredivisie thanks to a second-half goal that was not ruled out by VAR despite complaints from the home side, who protested that the ball had gone out of bounds on a previous play.
The team of Amsterdam took the lead in the 34th minute thanks to a goal from Brian Brobbey, who had to be substituted immediately after due to injury, and the Eindhoven team equalized in the 53rd minute thanks to a good shot from German Mario Gotze.
The controversy happened in 1974, when a splendid whiplash from Noussair Mazraoui from outside the area he ended up in the back of the net. The local players asked to annul the play because, a few seconds before, the Ajax player Daley Blind he had apparently failed to prevent the ball from going out of bounds.
The VAR, after reviewing the play, did not even call the árbitro Danny Makkelie to review the play, so the referee validated the goal and ordered PSV to serve from the center of the field.
“It was a scandal, I was able to see perfectly that the ball came out”, said the local team player indignantly Marco van Ginkel.
With this victory, Ajax adds 48 points and snatches the leadership of the Eredivisie from PSV Eindhoven, who stays with 46 points. (D)
