Recovered from covid-19, Messi returns to Paris Saint-Germain

Lionel Messi has returned to Paris Saint-Germain after recovering from Covid-19. The attacker’s name was released in the list of players who will face Reims, this Sunday, for the 22nd round of the French Championship.

Diagnosed with the virus after the end of the year holidays, Messi has not yet entered the field in 2022. The Argentine’s last match for PSG was on December 22, 2021, when the Parisian team drew 1-1 with Lorient, away from home, also in Ligue 1.

At 34 years old, Messi still hasn’t managed a streak longer than three games for Paris in the national competition. Before the covid, the player had already missed the team in some matches due to muscle injuries.

So far, there are 11 games with the PSG shirt, all as a starter, and only one goal, scored in the 3-1 victory against Nantes.

In addition to shirt 30, coach Mauricio Pochettino also has Kylian Mbappe available again, after the Frenchman recovered from a groin injury.

Leader of the French Championship with 50 points in 21 games, Paris Saint-Germain face Reims, this Sunday, at 16:30 (Brasília time), in Parc des Princes.
