With Diaby’s hat-trick, Bayer Leverkusen beat Augsburg 5-1, this Saturday, at BayArena, in a match valid for the 20th round of the German Championship.
Leverkusen reached 35 points with the victory and is now in 3rd place in the competition. With the defeat, Augsburg dropped to 16th place in the Bundesliga, with 19 points.
For the 21st round of the German Championship, Bayer Leverkusen returns to the field to face Borussia Dortmund, at Signal Iduna Park, on Sunday, February 6th. Augsburg, meanwhile, will face Union Berlin on Saturday, February 5 at the SGL Arena.
Playing at home, Bayer Leverkusen had a goal from Karim Bellarabi to open the scoring in the 9th minute of the first half, after assisting by Mitchel Bakker.
A few minutes later, in the 24th minute, striker Moussa Diaby scored his first goal, Leverkusen’s second in the match.
In the complementary stage, Augsburg resorted to substitutions to try to change the team’s posture. In the 17th minute of the second half, Arne Maier scored for the visiting team.
However, Diaby was on an inspired afternoon, and in the 20th minute he scored the home team’s third goal.
To consolidate his hat-trick, Diaby scored the team’s fourth goal in the match, in the 24th minute of the final stage.
Declaring the rout, Argentine Lucas Alario – who came to interest Palmeiras – came off the bench to score Bayer’s fifth goal in the game, in the 36th minute of the second half.
