The 47-year-old has been a trainer for over a dozen years, but his career clearly accelerated only when he took over Raków Czêstochowa in 2016, where he works to this day. With the club from Częstochowa, he was promoted from the second league to the league, and then won the runner-up, the Cup and the Polish Super Cup. In the 2020/21 season, he was chosen the best coach in the league.
Papshun surprises. “I have about three years left. That is the plan”
Papszun has been working in Raków for 5.5 years, and there are many indications that he will work in Częstochowa for at least one and a half years, because despite rumors linking him with Legia, Warsaw has just extended the contract with Raków until the end of June 2023.
As it turns out, Papszun does not intend to take long to use the fact that he is currently at the forefront of Polish trainers.
– I have three years left. That’s the plan. We will see what comes out of it – said Marek Papszun himself in an interview with “Przegląd Sportowy”, and then explained the reasons for such a position.
– Certainly, this work must be devoted entirely. We will be at the camp in Turkey for almost three weeks, we are going back, a moment at home and the league is about to start, constant trips again. You come home and you don’t have any time off, because another match awaits you – explained the coach of Raków.
– You’re home, and you are actually still at work. You don’t have time for yourself, for your family. He is still missing, although maybe I am badly organized. However, I must admit that I have more of it recently. So maybe my contract will be slightly shifted due to the fact that the staff relieves me in my activities – added Marek Papszun.
After 19 rounds of Raków Częstochowa is third in the league with 35 points. The inhabitants of Częstochowa, who are fighting for the Polish championship, are six points behind the leader of Lech Poznań.
