Former mixed martial artist (MMA) and ex-champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Oleg Taktarov was beaten in Mexico. This was announced by the senior consul of Russia in this country Andrei Troyanovsky, RIA Novosti reports.
As it became known, the incident occurred in the tourist area of the Riviera Maya. “According to Oleg himself, the police opened a case, but he did not pass any information on this case to the embassy,” Troyanovsky said.
The consulate added that they are monitoring the situation and will be ready to intervene if the Russian encounters a biased attitude in the consideration of the case. “As long as there are no such facts, we keep our finger on the pulse, he has been notified about this and we are in touch,” he said, adding that diplomats are deeply concerned about this case, like other similar incidents.
Last November, Oleg Taktarov spoke about the specifics of domestic sambo schools. Speaking about the specifics of the training of sambists in the Soviet era, Taktarov emphasized that in the past, athletes trained much more.
