Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski was the winner of The Best award on Monday. The striker thanked the votes, praised the importance of the Bundesliga in his trajectory and commented on the search for more records
“Everything I have done and have been doing makes me very proud. I am very happy to win an award like this. But it is important to say that this award is for the whole team, we play as one player”, said the player, in an interview with the Bundesliga.
“I think that each award is very much related to the League and the club. We play as one all year round. If we are winning awards, the club is doing well, these are things that show that we are doing a good job. A lot of people talk about the titles, about the awards, and that’s not just good for me, but it’s good for the club and for the Bundesliga.”
Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was selected for the ideal team of the year and Lewa spoke of the importance of having him in the rear of the team.
“He is a great goalkeeper. Not only as a goalkeeper, but he is a great man. No matter how old he is, he always shows that he is the best. Even during training, he is always very competitive, I see it as a challenge to score goals against him in training. Because of him I am a better player. If you have the best goalkeeper in the world in front of you during training, you always have to find a new solution to score”, he revealed.
The best in the world has scored 300 goals in the Bundesliga and is the second player to reach the mark in the competition. According to Robert, the goals and numbers achieved require patience.
“It’s something very special. Patience is key, but of course it gets easier when the team plays well and creates so many opportunities. 300 is a number that in a few years I will be able to get the exact idea of what it means. Now, I’m happy with my performance for sure” concluded Lewa.
