Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Alexander Volkov has tested positive for coronavirus. It is reported by TASS.
The team of the domestic heavyweight said that Volkov had contracted COVID-19. The athlete is in self-isolation. The Russian is scheduled to fight at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament in March. Volkov’s representatives note that the fighter’s plans do not change.
Earlier on January 21, it became known that the fight with the participation of Volkov will head the UFC Fight Night 204 event in London, which is scheduled for March 19. The rival of the domestic fighter will be the Englishman Tom Aspinall.
In his last UFC fight, Volkov defeated Pole Marcin Tybure. The fight took place in Abu Dhabi on 30 October. In total, the 33-year-old heavyweight has 34 wins and nine losses. The Russian became the champion in Bellator and M-1 Challenge.
