Richard Carapaz will open the season in France, at the Étoile de Bessèges-Tour du Gard | Other Sports | sports

The UCI Europe Tour test announces the tricolor for February on the provisional list of Ineos Grenadiers. There will be six stages with mountain sections and a CRI.

With the Star of Bessèges-Tour du Gard, in France, the 2022 season for Ecuadorian cyclist Richard Carapaz. The test will run this year edition 52 and announces the Olympic road champion as one of the stellar figures.

The test is from category 2.1 and is part of the UCI Europe Tour. they will cum 630 kilometers in five stages, between February 2 and 6, in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, southern France.

The organization announces the Ineos Grenadiers de Carapaz as part of a batch of 20 formations, of which 9 are WorldTour category.

In the british team, the Star of Bessèges forms Carapaz together with the polish Michal Kwiatkowski, the Belgian Laurens More, the Italian Filippo Ganna, the Irish Edward Dunbar, the British Ben Tulett and the Colombian Daniel Martinez.

the belgian Tim Wells won the 2021 test with Lotto Soudal, a team that will not be for this edition, so the Number 1 is announced for Kwiatkowski, second best placed in the general classification last year. Carapaz appears with number 2 in the provisional list of runners.

The Star of Bessèges will be the start of the season for the Locomotive, who fulfills a preparation camp in Colombia, along with Martinez, who will be his teammate in France, and a batch of five other Ineos riders including Colombian Egan Bernal.

The test in France will also be the first in which the Ecuadorian will wear the golden badges on his clothing, which accredit him as the winner of the Olympic gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The tour will have a first flat stage in Bellegarde, mountain sections in Rousson and Mont Bouquet during days two and four, to close with a time trial in Alés. (D)
