Former Real Madrid player Robinho has been sentenced to prison for gang rape. It is reported by UOL.
The 37-year-old Brazilian received nine years in prison for a crime committed in 2013. Then a footballer (at that time a Milan player) and several other people raped an Albanian girl in Italy.
The ex-football player of Real Madrid was sentenced five years ago, but Robinho’s lawyers unsuccessfully tried to challenge the court’s decision. Now that the verdict has been confirmed, the Italian side is demanding that Brazil hand over the player to them. But, since the Brazilian constitution does not recognize extradition, the European court can only require Robinho to serve his sentence in his homeland.
Robinho played for Real Madrid from 2005 to 2008. Together with the team, he twice became the champion of Spain.
On January 15, the American striker of the Yaroslavl club Lokomotiv of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) Reed Boucher confessed to raping a minor. The crime happened in 2011, at that time Bush was 17 years old, and the girl was 12. Initially, he was charged with a first-degree sexual crime, for which he could receive from 25 years to life imprisonment. However, during the hearing, the district judge allowed Bush to file for a lesser charge. Also, the hockey player will avoid preliminary imprisonment.
