Former Spartak player spoke about Cherchesov’s reaction to jokes

Former Spartak player Maxim Kalinichenko spoke about Stanislav Cherchesov’s reaction to jokes. His words are available on the YouTube channel of Gleb Chernyavsky.

“It was absolutely impossible to joke about Cherchesov. There should be no smiles in training. If Cherchesov saw someone smile in training, his mustache immediately bristled, ”Kalinichenko shared. The football player noted that the coach did not like the young Alexander Prudnikov and Artem Dzyuba, who were cheerful.

Kalinichenko said he considers Cherchesov a good coach. “Some people may like his approach, and some may not like it. His authoritarianism puts pressure on someone, oppresses someone, and on the contrary, someone needs it. I felt quite comfortable,” he said.

Cherchesov led Spartak in the 2007/2008 season. In addition to red and white, he coached Terek, Amkar, Dynamo Moscow and the Polish Legia.

From 2016 to 2021, Cherchesov was the head coach of the Russian national team. After leaving the national team, the coach headed the Hungarian Ferencváros.
