Dani Alves: It’s strange being at FC Barcelona and not seeing Lionel Messi, not having him in the band

In a dialogue that he held this week with Catalunya Radio, he took stock of his return to the whole of Spain.

Dani Alves returned to FC Barcelona and in November it was made official that he would form part of the team led by Xavi Hernández, his former teammate. Even so, in his new stint with the culé team he will not share with his friend Lionel Messi and told how difficult it is to play without him.

“Messi is the best in the history of football. It’s strange being here and not seeing him, not having him in the band. I told you, you’re not going to be anywhere better than here. The same thing he told me when I left. It would be great if he finished his career here”, declared the Brazilian winger.

In a dialogue he had this week with Catalunya Radio made a balance on his return to the whole of Spain and showed his interest in playing again with the flea, just as it happened at the beginning of his career. The Argentine has a contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2023 and Alves suggested that he retire with the shirt of the club he defended for 21 years, the newspaper publishes Ole from Argentina.

Alves played for eight seasons at Barcelona, in the most glorious stage of the club. He was released from San Pablo after terminating his contract and in recent months he had been close to Barça, offering his services in case they needed him.

After returning, he said: “In my farewell I said that when I am here I am happy. Being part of the great history that Barça has, feeling these colors is what I want. If things are good, you have to repeat them. I hope to bring seriousness at the time of work and joy. Being here again is a gift that I am opening every day. I always fight for what I want. I wanted to return because I had not been able to say goodbye to Barça. I couldn’t say goodbye after eight years and 23 titles, I was left with the thorn of being able to return to say goodbye. Go out with joy and not with doubts, that they see me as a person who loves this club”.

He also analyzed how he currently saw the institution: “It is very painful to see where Barça has been led. But that is already. We have to find the solution to get Barça out of there. The changes that are in the club are important to continue in the elite. Clubs always have their ups and downs. What you have to do is make them last a short time, a couple of years. And our challenge here is to convince everyone that they play for the best club in the world, for the team that changed the history of football.” (D)
