A lottery system allows prospective international spectators to purchase tickets at a starting price of $69.
The sale of tickets for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar (November 21-December 18) began this Wednesday with prices lower than those practiced in previous editions, as announced by FIFA in a statement.
A lottery system allows international spectator candidates to buy tickets at an initial price of 69 dollars (61 euros), which is a third less than the current prices at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
However, the price of a ticket for the final could reach 1,607 dollars (1,422 euros).
The organizers did not announce how many spectators will be admitted to the stadiums, in a context of uncertainty linked to the covid-19 pandemic.
Residents of Qatar and migrant workers, whose treatment has been a source of controversy, can purchase tickets for $11, just under 10 euros.
People who sign up now for the different offers, whether they prefer to book for a specific match, follow a particular team or book for a stadium, will be entered into a first draw which will take place on 8 February.
The lucky ones will be notified before March 8.
The final draw for the matches of the first World Cup organized in an Arab country is scheduled to take place in April. FIFA hinted in its statement that it could take place on April 1. (D)
