Alavés lost against Betis (4-0) this Tuesday at the Benito Villamarín the match corresponding to the 21st round of LaLiga Santander. The albiazul team still in relegation places, with 17 points.
Betis was superior from start to finish. The local team went on the attack and took the lead in the 10th minute through a Borja Iglesias (1-0) who impeccably finished off a cross from Sergio Canales.
After the Betis goal, Alavés did not react. The superiority of the local team was overwhelming and Pellegrini’s men generated scoring chances. Juanmi was able to score in the 20th minute, but finished off wide. However, eight minutes later, Canales scored a great goal and made it 2-0 on the scoreboard.
Alavés did not know how to recover from that second goal conceded and before the break, Betis scored their third goal through Borja Iglesias (3-0) after taking advantage of a gift from Miazga and beating goalkeeper Pacheco.
José Luis Mendilibar, coach of Alavés, made three changes at the start of the second half: Manu García, Tachi and Tomás Pina entered the pitch, replacing Toni Moya, Escalante and Jason. The changes had no effect. What’s more, Ruben Duarte was injured in minute two of the second half, and had to be substituted; in his place entered Javi López.
A few minutes later, the bad news did not stop, since Betis completely sentenced the match with the goal by Juanmi (4-0); the striker of the verdiblanco team masterfully culminated a quick counterattack.
In the final stretch, Betis had the game under control. Alavés did not create scoring chances and could concede a few more, although the clash ended with a 4-0 result.
