Ukrainian heavyweight boxer Oleksandr Usyk lost a lot of money due to his political position. The athlete spoke about this in an interview with Masha Efrosinina’s YouTube channel.
“I lost quite a lot of money for my position, but I do not regret it. Money is perhaps the easiest resource that can be replenished, ”the boxer shared. Usyk said that he has no advertising contracts in Ukraine. “The situation is such that with a hate, a misunderstanding, a lot of contracts have gone, multimillion-dollar contracts,” he added.
On December 25, 2021, the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, spoke about his attitude towards Usyk. The politician and former boxer said that the athlete is pro-Ukrainian, as he always represents his country and raises the Ukrainian flag.
Usyk is a native of Simferopol. The boxer’s regular trips to Crimea to visit relatives have repeatedly become a reason for conflicts with Ukrainian journalists.
