European teams want to leave FIFA

More than ten European teams are ready to leave the International Football Federation (FIFA). Reported by the Associated Press.

What specific teams want to leave the organization is not specified. Their intention is connected with the desire of the federation to hold world championships more often. FIFA plans to reduce the frequency of organizing the World Cup: from once every four years to once every two years. It is specified that the final decision has not been made, and a discussion is underway.

On October 6, FIFA’s plans were negatively assessed by the head coach of the Russian national football team Valery Karpin. In his opinion, the players will not have time to rest.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced the initiative to hold the World Championships every two years in early September. The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) as well as many European national teams opposed this. At the moment, the world championship is held every four years.
