The waters continue to go down in turmoil in Atlético Nacional, a few days before the start of a new season. The fans do not forgive the audio of the goalkeeper Aldair Quintana in which he called purslane fans “mischievous”, published daily Mark, in its web version of Colombia.
A controversy that, far from fading, continues. This Monday, on a bridge over the Medellin highway, near the club’s headquarters in Guarne, a banner appeared with a question: “Managers, when do you announce a goalkeeper?”
In another piece of cloth, what could be read was even more aggressive and forceful against the Nacional goalkeeper: “Quintana, you are the bastard. Out of!”.
At the time, the club supported the player, but the fans have not forgotten a few words that raised dust. The signings of Daniel Mantilla, Jhon Duque, Alexander Mejía and Giovanni Moreno have not managed to restore peace to the club.
The origin of the controversy
Nacional won the Betplay Cup and secured a spot in the 2022 Copa Libertadores, but the fans ask to win the league (they have not won it since 2017) and this did not please Aldair Quintana, the team’s starting goalkeeper and one of the most questioned players in the league. template. On December 9, an audio of him was leaked in a conversation with WhatsApp where he questions the club’s fans with insults.
“Personally, mistakes were obviously made; but I think it’s more good than bad, asshole… But these bastards don’t like it at all, it’s very screwed up, asshole. It’s very fucked up, the atmosphere is very heavy. The club is a chimba, but the atmosphere is tough”, were Quintana’s words that went viral on networks and instantly many fans asked for his departure from the club questioning an alleged mediocrity and questioning his presence in the National Team.
Quintana’s apology
The goalkeeper had to appear on his social networks to apologize for his words: “I want to present my deepest apologies for having hurt any susceptibility. I deeply respect and value Atlético Nacional and its fans… There is no justification for what happened, regardless of the fact that the audios are out of context. The results of this semester in this tournament hurt us all”. (D)
