Out of finalists for FIFA’s The Best award, Neymar was chosen as the best in the world by his Paris Saint-Germain teammate Lionel Messi. In addition to the Argentine, compatriot Thiago Silva and the coach of the Laos national team, Selvaraj Vengadasalam, chose the Brazilian as their first option for the trophy.
Defender of Palmeiras and captain of the Paraguayan team, Gustavo Gómez also included the ace in the top 3 of the award.
Already the coach of the Brazilian team, Tite, did not vote for Neymar in the category. The captain chose Lewandowski, winner of The Best, as the first place, leaving Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, from Liverpool, in second, and Frenchman Benzema in third.
Last season, Neymar reached the semi-finals of the Champions League with PSG, being eliminated by Manchester City. In addition, the Brazilian failed to win the French Championship, won by Lille, earning only the Coupe de France in 2021.

Captain of Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo did not include Lionel Messi among the top three. The player voted for Lewandowski, Kanté and Jorginho for first, second and third place respectively. Messi, in turn, returned the favor and did not vote for the Portuguese. In addition to Neymar, the athlete voted for Kylian Mbappé for second place and Benzema for third.
The current Flamengo coach, Paulo Sousa, also participated in the vote before transferring to the Rio de Janeiro club, when he was still in charge of the Poland team. The coach voted for ex-manager Lewandowski, followed by Jorginho and Kanté.
