Through a statement, the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) reported that after medical evaluations, and considering the immediacy of the Tri’s playoff games, players Byron Castillo and Luis Fernando León have been dismissed from the National Team”.

Castillo underwent an operation to clean his knee in December, an intervention from which he has not fully recovered.

The FEF also detailed that “in the next few hours The player José Cifuentes (Los Angeles FC) will join the call”.

Under the command of coach Gustavo Alfaro, La Tri began training this Monday at the National Team.

Alfaro presented on Sunday a partial call of eleven players; however, outside that list there are players, such as Janner Corozo, Michael Estrada, Roberto Arboleda, José Hurtado and Michael Carcelén, affected by COVID-19 and part of the latest summons from the coach for the Tricolor matches. (D)
