Portuguese ace Cristiano Ronaldo was not among the finalists of FIFA’s The Best award, which was won by Robert Lewandowski. However, the striker received a special award as the top scorer of national teams in history.
The player achieved the feat last year, scoring 115 goals for the Portugal national team. Even at 36, the athlete still feels motivated to play for another four or five seasons.
“It’s a matter of passion. I love this sport. I like to score goals and have fun. When I go on the field or practice, I have fun. I feel good and motivated. I keep working hard and I want to keep feeling this passion. they ask how many years I have left as a player, and I would like to play another four or five years. It’s a mental issue. If you take care of your body, the body also takes care of you”, he said.
Cristiano hopes that the trophy will serve as “extra fuel” for the striker to help Manchester United and the Portuguese national team in pursuit of their goals for this season.
“Now it’s up to me to turn this trophy into extra fuel so that I can help Manchester United achieve their goals this season, as well as the play-offs in March, so that Portugal can be at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022”, he wrote in his Instagram.
