Poles are the champions of the legendary game. Everyone played it

In mid-January, CD-Action organized the Heroes of Might and Magic III World Championship, more commonly known as Heroes III. The tournament was dominated by the Poles, as Piotr “Arytmetyczny” Belnik and Marek “Szopa666” Szczepañski met in the final. The latter went home with the CD-Action Cup and the title of world champion.

The memory of Heroes III is still alive in Poland. The game comes from 1999, it had its successors, but it is still this part of Heroes of Might and Magic that attracts the greatest interest. For this reason, there are still tournaments organized for enthusiasts.

Last weekend, CD-Action magazine and H3.gg organized the Heroes III World Championship. The tournament was held offline in the Krakow TV studio Fantasyexpo – the company that currently owns the cult newspaper. The winner of the event collected 1000 euro, as well as the title of the world champion.

Originally the games were supposed to last three days, but in the end everything was resolved after two days. Two Poles met in the final – Marek “Szopa666” Szczepañski and Piotr “Arytmetyczny” Belnik. The meeting lasted five hours. Eventually, Szopa666 was the top player, gathering a better army and controlling the map better. The meeting transcript is below:

Szczepañski thus gained one thousand euro. The loser of the final – Arithmetic – did not come home empty-handed, however. For the second place, there will be 800 euro prizes. Interestingly, CD-Action announced that it was not a one-off initiative, and Heroes III fans can expect another world championship to be organized in the future.
