Shevchenko commented on his dismissal from Genoa

Ukrainian specialist Andriy Shevchenko commented on the dismissal from the Italian club Genoa. His words are quoted by Tuttosport.

“During these two months, my coaching staff and I did everything we could,” said the specialist. He noted that he had never seen a stadium like Luigi Ferraris before. According to Shevchenko, the stadium is extraordinary because the Genoa fans are extraordinary. “You have to try to save a place in Serie A for them. For these guys, who every time create an incredible atmosphere and never leave us in the middle of difficulties, ”the coach addressed the players.

Earlier, Genoa CEO Johannes Spors explained why he decided to fire Shevchenko. He stated that under the leadership of the Ukrainian there were no improvements in the game and the results of the team.

On January 16, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed Shevchenko. The head of state said that all of Europe knows what kind of game the team led by Shevchenko is capable of. Zelensky also suggested that the coach return home to work, as he is “the most beloved in Ukraine.”

On January 15, Shevchenko left the post of head coach of the Italian club, to which he was appointed in November 2021. Under him, the team lost seven matches out of 11.
