Former striker of the Russian national team Andrei Arshavin received a new position at Zenit. This was announced to TASS by the general director of the team, Alexander Medvedev.
Arshavin became the club’s deputy general director for sports development. “He will continue to work on improving the efficiency of the youth and youth football vertical and bringing the pupils of the Gazprom Academy to the club’s main team,” Medvedev explained.
Since August 2020, the ex-footballer has served as director of the youth football development department. He previously worked as an advisor to the CEO for youth football.
Arshavin played for the blue-white-blues from 1999 to 2008 and from 2012 to 2015. As part of the club, he became the champion of Russia three times, and also won the UEFA Cup and Super Cup in 2008. Arshavin also played for London’s Arsenal, Krasnodar’s Kuban and Kazakhstan’s Kairat.
