“I’m not inflating the balloon.” A Pole won the World Cup and she wants a medal at the Olympics in Beijing!

Aleksandra Krl on Friday achieved one of the greatest successes in her career. The winner was the World Cup parallel giant slalom in Simonhöhe, Austria. This is her first career victory in this cycle. On February 8, Polka will start in this competition at.

ukasz Jachimiak: Do you know that now – three weeks before the Olympics – we will all start snowboarding in Poland?

Aleksandra Krl: Ha, ha, ha – fun! For me, winning is a confirmation of what I do in training. In the end, I showed the same good driving in competitions. I had great rides. I feel strong now. Even stronger!

So you weren’t surprised by this victory? How long has the form been?

I had to look for some of this form. I was injured and snowboarding a lot lately. In fact, I initially drive World Cups without any real, long training sessions. Therefore, there were errors in starts. But when I got back to strenuous training, I eliminated it. Almost. Because there are still some of them doing them in competitions. Through stress. In Simonhoehe, I won the World Cup even though I didn’t have a perfect day at all. I was only ninth in qualifying, because I made mistakes in the first run. But in the second time I had my third time and after that I knew that in the fight of the best sixteen I was on the podium. From one fifth final to the final I have already ridden well in every race.

In the final, she defeated the Olympic champion from Sochi, Juli Dujmovits, in the final, the current World Cup winner and bronze medalist of the Pyeongchang Olympics, Ramon Hofmeister – which is what he certainly looks like before the Beijing Olympics.

I confirm, since I come down from the podium, keep on talking on the phone. Good thing there is interest. I repeat to everyone that I am not going to Beijing on a trip to the Olympics. Four years ago, I was 11 in Pyeongchang. Now I am not interested in such a place. Jad is fighting for a medal. He says as it is, don’t inflate the balloon, and I’m not interested in anyone pumping. I sit in my mouth, give a few interviews now, but then I will focus again on driving, on training, prepare my best and go to the maximum in Beijing. I am already a very experienced player.

31 years is so much?

But I have already attended the Olympics in Sochi, where I am not in ninth place, according to Wikipedia, and what I do not want to change. There I had a completely unsuccessful performance. In one encounter I fell down and was disqualified, in the second I was in twentieth place. It was better in Pyeongchang, I was already more experienced there and I take quite the 11th place. And now I’m eating more.

So when are people supposed to set alarm clocks to cheer you on?

On February 8. In Poland, it will certainly be some early morning hours. But what will he do.

That we would have as many problems as possible that our athlete has a chance to achieve a great result and it’s worth the night for him! You can see that this winter does not pamper Polish fans? Especially jumping fans.

Yes, the jumpers are not doing well, but the fast livestock are having a very good season, and so are Maryna Gsienica-Daniel. I think that if our jumpers fail, then someone else from the Polish team in Beijing will give the fans joy. I will certainly do everything to fight for the medal. This is my dream, not 10th place, for example.

When are you flying to China?

January 26. Train on the spot, get used to the conditions.

Covid and Chinese tests – apparently particularly sensitive – are you not afraid?

I am vaccinated with three doses. I wear a good mask, I keep my distance, I avoid all gatherings, the parents I live with also try not to catch it. So far I have never been positive in any of the theses. Maybe I went through it a year ago asymptomatically, because one person in the team then had covid. It is known that the omicron can be failed anywhere, but we are doing our best to avoid it. It is a pity that stress cannot be avoided. Once, I got an inconclusive result. I had to stay, to do another test. That the negative, i.e. earlier, error was made in the laboratory. But because of that I had to come to the competition at the last minute, there was unnecessary confusion.

It was talking about the games in Sochi and Pyongyang, and are you Jagna Marczuajtis snowboarding child? She was a little over 11 years old when Jagna finished fourth at the Salt Lake City 2002 Olympics.

Of course I was watching the Lamb. But then I had been snowboarding for a long time. I was seven when my parents took me to Austria to ski. In the guesthouse where we live, I am playing with the owner’s daughter. She was snowboarding, so I said I want to snowboard too. My older brother is also snowboarding, I wanted to be like him, so my parents agreed and they rented me a board. I was so good at it that I said he hadn’t worn any more skis in his life! My parents bought me a desk, my brother was still teaching me, I joined the club, I started competing and that’s how it went.

And you really only eat snowboarding, and don’t ski?

I used to eat a lot when I was a young child. I’m from November and I know that when I turn my two-year-old I am already skiing. Until I was seven, I was crazy about skiing all the time, but as a seven-year-old I fell in love with snowboarding and that’s nice forever.

So, drug Ester Ledeck (in Pyongyang a Czech won gold in the parallel snowboard giant, i.e. in the competition in which the King competes, and gold in the ski super-giant) will you not stay?

Now I can ski only with a pug! I’m a lame skier.

As a Polish snowboarder, do you have everything your most fierce rivals have? Do we look decent in terms of equipment and organization compared to Austria or Germany?

I think she’s quite okay. We are missing the servismen. If we had him, the coach would have a little more peace. And so it keeps chasing. But the equipment is at the same level. Ride on the same board as the best in the world Ramona Hofmeister. We had to invest in equipment, we did it and we are not sticking out.

How big were these investments?

The board itself costs a thousand euros. In addition, he asks for a thousand euros, shoes for another thousand and bindings for 300 euros. I need four of these kits.

What is this asking?

It is a thin aluminum question that is mounted on the board. She moves on, forwards and backwards. Makes the board catch the edge more easily and is also quiet so it goes faster. Everyone is on questions. Whoever does not have them does not exist. He asks on the desk, when he asks a question – there is no other option anymore.

There is probably no sport anymore that is not like the technological racing of Formula 1.

Exactly! Snowboarding is Formula 1 in the snow! The question may have this setting or something else, it may be cut, all with the springs may be undercut. Maybe the thong may be raised, the fingers may be raised. There are a million different solutions and everyone has to find their golden setting.

So the servismen would definitely have what it does.

It is true. Miaby. I myself have to test everything, it changes. He would tell you what.

The rivals probably have not even one service, but whole teams of such specialists?

Yes, May after a few. Fortunately, our trainer does a good job. He has knowledge, because he was an assistant to the previous coach and he was in charge of the service. But logistically, it would be easier for us if there was an additional man. Me and Micha Nowaczyk were in the finals in Simonhoehe [odpad w jednej smej finau]So the trainer got me a board to start and let me go, he had to prepare everything for Mike during the summer, and when he lets him go, I’m getting impatient, where is my board. Sometimes it’s not easy. But I showed that it is still possible.

Definitely! It awakens our appetites.

Enjoy. And I awaken my appetite the most.
