Since the departure of Paulo Sousa from the Polish national team, Adam Nawałka is the main favorite to take over the team before the March play-offs for the world championship in Qatar. And although there are a few days left until January 19, when the name of the new coach is to be announced, it does not change. after which information appeared that he is about to become the new-old national team general manager.

What’s more, the journal also wrote that Kulesza’s meeting with Nawałka was completely accidental.

But it wasn’t quite like that. The only coincidence was the date of the meeting, which was originally planned for Friday, the day after Nawałka returned from his holiday in the Maldives. And since both Nawałka and Kulesza stayed overnight at the Regent Hotel on Thursday and met there after Kulesza returned from Chorzów, they did not intend to delay. Later that evening, they started talks about taking over the staff, while on Friday another conversation was to take place between them, but already by phone.

“It’s crazy, managers organize circuses, and 80 percent of information in the public space is fakes” – we heard in the Polish Football Association asking for information about Nawałka and Koller.

It may turn out that Nawałka has not had any agent so far, but he is represented in talks with the Polish Football Association by Jerzy Kopiec, who works with Pini Zahavi. The same Mound a few days ago was also represented by Fabio Cannavaro on behalf of Zahavi, when he came to Poland. In the relationship, there is a belief that it is the new representative of Nawałka who is responsible for creating the message that the coach has already been selected and it will be his client. Meanwhile, it is not so sure yet.

Nawałka is a favorite, but it can eliminate itself

“Cezary Kulesza and Adam Nawałka met on a late Thursday evening and played open cards. They have known each other for a long time and they knew what to expect. There were no surprises: a well-prepared coach brought a ready idea for the March training camp. He has the President of the Polish Football Association. I like his enthusiasm and the main idea that this is not the time for experiments “- and not only concepts but also details were discussed, and the agreement between Kulesza and Nawałka is close.

What about the candidacy of the Swiss Marcel Koller? It does exist, it is interesting, but as we hear in the Polish Football Association, the buzz around him that arose in the media on Friday was greatly exaggerated. Koller is among the three “finalists” that Cezary Kulesza mentioned in an interview with WP SportoweFakty and was to be recommended by the president of the Polish Football Association, Cezary Kucharski. But Adam Nawałka remains the favorite. Although as long as the contracts are not signed, nothing can be assumed in advance.

All the more so as Nawałka also has its own conditions. And this is what can be a real threat to him in his talks with Kulesza. If Adam Nawałka puts himself on his own in contentious and important issues, either by himself or through his agent, he would pass information to the public, including “tug of war”, he will lose. Kulesza is not the type of person who will lay out a red carpet in front of Nawałka, waiting as if for a savior. The former selector’s negotiating position is much worse than in 2016, when he played in a similar way in talks with Zbigniew Bok. If Nawałka overcharges in the negotiations, he may remain on the ice, and the Polish Football Association in the person of Kulesza will then decide on a different option.

On the list of three finalists, apart from Nawałka and Koller, there was also to be one more coach, probably from Poland. It should not be expected that this is about Czesław Michniewicz, Marek Papszun or Michał Probierz, whose candidacies had already been rejected by Kulesza. Or maybe … this candidacy is not present at all. It should not be ruled out that Kulesza has actually made his choice, but as long as the details of the contract are not specified on his terms, he will not reveal it.
