The situation of Zygmunt Kłos He visited a former boxer in a house near Rzeszów. “The shabby façade and the neglected garden are immediately noticeable,” we read. But that’s just the beginning.
Mr. Zygmunt’s house has no running water, no toilet, no bathroom. The former boxer washes and washes in the pelvis. When needed, he has to go to the outside latrine, which until recently had no door. It was only posted by people who became interested in the fate of Kłos.
A devastating diagnosis for Zygmunt Kłos
His story is shocking. Kłos was born in a poor family, and he was to be a ticket to a better world. The talented player was attracted by Stal activists in the 1970s. They promised a flat for representing the club’s colors, but the only thing that Kłos received was a report to the workers’ hotel. The club’s authorities told him to be grateful for “snatching him out of the dead village”.
After one of the tragic knockouts in 1985, the boxer lost his health. “The diagnosis was devastating: head trauma, visual disturbance, speech disorders, problems with the labyrinth. It was clear to the doctors that this was the end of a sports career and that it would be difficult to return to normal life” – we read.
Despite the serious damage to his health, Stal activists “sold” their player to Carbo Gliwice, where his injury worsened. Kłos literally played with life, because Stal’s activists did not provide real information about the player’s health.
It was only years later that the authorities of the reorganized club – after the court verdict – began to pay Kłos a pension. But in 2020, without any notice, they stopped. – We’re reorganizing the club. Where should we get if the club is not making any money? – Stal’s president Ryszard Federkiewicz told Polsat News.
Today, Mr. Zygmunt has about 1,300 zlotys of disability pension from ZUS left for his life. That is slightly over PLN 40 a day. Due to his health condition, the former athlete cannot work. Besides, with a disabled group it is difficult for him to even find a part-time job.
However, Zygmunt Kłos can be helped. A dump was launched for this purpose -. There is also a report on the situation of the former boxer available on the Internet.
