This Friday, Gabon faced Ghana in the group stage of the African Cup of Nations. Faced with an important match in the first phase, the star Aubameyang was left out of the duel due to the consequences of the covid.
Last Thursday, on his arrival in Cameroon, to compete in the competition, the Arsenal striker was diagnosed with the disease and missed the team in their debut against Comoros.
Recovered from the disease, the athlete remains on leave due to the consequences left by the covid that, according to the medical committee of the African Football Confederation, worry the authorities. Axel Meye and Mario Lemina were also sidelined, all of whom had minor heart problems on their exams as a result of the illness.
On its Twitter, the Gabonese Federation explained. “According to the CAF medical commission, players Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Axel Meye and Mario Lemina, newly recovered from covid, cannot participate in this match”, he published.
“The exams showed cardiac lesions. CAF did not want to take any risks”, he concluded.
